What is the difference between a Service Coordinator and Plan Manager?

​Services such as the NDIS Plan Management and NDIS Support Coordination are important in helping people put their NDIS plan into action. The services are sometimes confused by people and it isn’t always clear what they can and cannot offer.

At NNA Direct Support Services, we can help you understand the difference between the two services and how you can take advantage of the benefits.

What is Plan Management?

Plan Managers will only help you manage the financial aspects of your NDIS plan e.g things like claiming from the NDIS portal, getting your providers' invoices paid, budget tracking to see how much you have spent and what is remaining.

An important thing to take note of is that an NDIS Plan Manager will not take care of your whole NDIS plan e.g getting access to supports.

What is Support Coordination?

You will receive support from your Support Coordinator in helping you find the right provider who are the best fit for your needs. Support Coordinators do not help with the financial aspect of your NDIS plan.

Support Coordinators can help with:

•Sourcing and connecting you with service providers that match your individual requirements.

•Advise and guide you throughout your journey with the NDIS

•Help your comprehend the details of your NDIS Plan

•Prepare you for review meetings and track the process of your plan.

The other major difference between both services is that everyone with an NDIS Plan is entitled to a Plan Manager, however the NDIA will assess the unique requirements of each individual before providing Support Coordinator services. Both of these services are fully funded by the NDIS.
